Weekly Predictions

————————————————————–——

Every Thursday, Sensei White Lotus post predictions in how the top five films will finish that box office weekend. Sensei also looks to maintain a streak of calling the correct #1 film. With each correct pick Sensei extends his streak. At the moment his pick is incorrect, his streak ends and starts again with the next correct pick.

Every Monday after predictions, Sensei posts what’s called the Box Office Fallout. This recaps how the predictions did over the weekend. Fallouts are posted after box office actuals have been determined, as opposed to the weekend estimates.

On special occasions (such as certain holidays) Sensei will post earlier in the week to accommodate our audience.

Film Essays

————————————————————–——

Without question MCA’s most popular feature is Sensei’s take on the industry in essay form. Not a weekly feature and not set to any timetable, Sensei’s essays post when he feels a subject is relevant and unique enough in perspective.

Previous essays have helped determine early box office hits like Soul Surfer and blockbusters like Fast Five. Sensei offers an honest and fully objective view on all topics discussed.

Since there is no way to predict an essay’s posting, it’s important to check back often or follow us on Twitter @MCAssassins.

Iron Fist Articles

————————————————————–——

Master Iron Fist also offers his humorous take on a variety of subjects. This can range from “How To React At Work,” to “His Choice For President,” so on and so on.

Iron Fist also has his own archive for these, which tracks his newest and current works.

The 7

————————————————————–——

Yeah. We rank trailers. MCA enjoys film trailers and ranks a list of seven favorites. Each trailer rank is calculated off feedback from fans and our own site community.

The list is seasonal and constantly changing as every new trailer can potentially be added.

The master list, as it were, can be accessed in its current form at any time by clicking “The 7” section at the top of any page.

Special Events

————————————————————–——

MCA also covers special events (like Comic Con for example). There is also Sensei’s “Hit List” which deals with current news items Sensei believes are fun and deserve extra attention.

Special events can also include special film reviews, TV commentary, and even fan videos.

Our Mission

It’s said too many times Hollywood moguls are “perplexed”, “confused”, and “astonished” by a film’s box office performance. Their own analysis details box office predictions, expert reviews, critic assessments, and certain extra circular activities (we’ll leave that to your imagination).

Millions upon millions of dollars are spent and yet they find themselves wrong, and we’re not talking by just a few numbers (which is respectable) but by hundreds of millions of dollars. The speech gets rehashed “we’re shocked, astonished, disappointed…” after every box office weekend. Soak. Rinse. Repeat.

Here we seek to provide a forum for everyone (and not just moguls) to more effectively predict and analyze film and TV trends. To see the unseen and to utilize the ignored.

Together these elements make for more effective predictions and help the film business in general. In the end, every film or TV project hinges on the question of “understanding” a film’s audience and overall potential. Our method is to also do this in the most entertaining possible way by being first and foremost — film fans. Everything else we leave to the moguls and film critics to fret about.

We at MCA also want to make it clear that no matter where the project hails from, big or small, old or new — all get a fair shake and honest assessment here. Filler and biases need not apply.

Enjoy and once again welcome to MCA.
