Analysis

Super bowl weekend is usually pretty brutal on opening films. I do see enough positive buzz, however, for Warm Bodies to pull a Chronicle-like opening (22 Million). Film’s marketing has been top notch and reviews so far are promising.
I don’t see Bullet To The Head really breaking out. The film’s title is terrible. Sylvester Stallone only seems to do well with recognizable icons like Rambo and vast action cast in Expendables. Adding to the film’s plight is no recognizable co-stars.
Look for decent holds for Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook. To be clear, Zero has no chance at winning the Best Picture Oscar. The film can however continue to roll in impressive box office numbers. Playbook will continue an impressive box office streak for Jennifer Lawrence.
Stand Up Guys isn’t opening on very many screens (only around 450+), but does still carry enough star power with Al Pacino and Christopher Walken to hold its own. Being an action comedy is the right move here, helps tap into what made Red such a box office hit.
Look for Les Miserables  to easily break the 140 million domestic mark.
Have a great weekend,

Sensei White Lotus

It almost looks like Bullet To The Head is trying to be this year’s Shoot ‘Em Up. Then again, Shoot ‘Em Up only made 12million, so that’s probably a bad choice to emulate.

Excellent call, “Bullet” might end up around 12 or so million domestic. I really thought the title was terrible.
