Sensei’s analysis ends up spot on as Taken 2 starts the Fall with a bang…


Weekend Results…

1. Taken 2 – 45 Million. Actual: 49.5 Million.

Sensei’s streak calling the correct #1 hits two straight weeks.

2. Hotel Transylvania – 24 Million. Actual: 27 Million.

3. Frankenweenie – 15 Million. Actual: #5 with 11.4 Million.

4. Pitch Perfect – 13.2 Million. Actual: #3 with 14.8 Million.

5. Looper – 12.7 Million. Actual: #4 with 12.1 Million.

As predicted, Taken 2 will easily become one of the fall’s biggest blockbusters. Pretty close on the other numbers with only Frankenweenie coming in slightly under projections. Many are talking about the low critical reviews Taken 2 received. Truthfully, reviews weren’t stellar from them for the first Taken either. Audiences don’t care what the critics think on this action franchise.

On the analysis side, Hotel Transylvania did continue to do well and took a good chunk of Frankenweenie’s target audience with it. Pitch Perfect did a little better than projected, but did find a mid level opening off its female dominated target audience.
