“Script says – Happy Feet 2 sucks…” — Master Iron Fist

Twilight Continues Well. Muppets Strong.

1. Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part One

Prediction: 39 million. Actual: 41 million

Drop was in line with previous Twilight entries. Film did hold its “event” feel and was never really threatened at the top spot.

Sensei’s streak of calling the correct #1 film extends to 2 weeks.

2. The Muppets

Prediction: 37 million. Actual: 29 million.

Film did reach a Smurfs-like opening. It’s also set up for a successful second week that could see it vault to the top box office spot.

Film received very high audience ratings and will continue to appeal to both younger and older audiences.

3. Arthur Christmas

Prediction: 17 million. Actual: #4 with 12 million.

Film did get a healthy boost off its Christmas themes, but should have been bigger. Can’t help but think that The Muppets will … now start to pull serious numbers away from this point on.

4. Happy Feet 2

Prediction: 16 million. Actual: #3 with 13.3 million.

As predicted, the film is a financial disaster. Falling victim to higher rated family fare and debasing its own concept has taken a very heavy toll on this one. Hopefully, Hollywood will learn a lesson from this.

5. Puss In Boots

Prediction: 10 million. Actual: #8 with 7.5 million.

Did not pick up the large share of Happy Feet 2′s bleeding numbers, but still did well. Mentioned Jack and Jill was looming and did jump over this with 10 million.

Bonus Picks:

Hugo Prediction: 8 million. Actual: #5 with 11.3 million.

The Descendents Prediction: 4 million. Actual: #9 with 7.3 million.

Until next time,

Sensei White Lotus

  5. Steel Priest says:

Depends on how the term “WAY” is valued.

    Pretty subjective in any field.

Given that, I find skeptic’s assement as being WAY off as well.

The difference being that my “WAY” has been certified by the International Consortium for Standards and Measures in Degreed Colloquial Expressions thereby rendering my “WAY” as the more accurate.

You were WAY off this week.
