1. Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part One
Prediction: 15.6 million. Actual: 16.5 million. Oh Sensei…
Was one of only very few prediction sites to get this call right. The rest went for The Muppets winning the weekend. This means Sensei again “clears the field,” with his correct prediction. Sensei has been remarkable at calling Breaking Dawn’s grosses since it opened (all within 1-2 million). ….. Maybe he’s a fan?
Sensei’s streak on calling #1 extends to 4 weeks.

2. The Muppets
Prediction: 14.5 million. Actual: 11 million. A little lower than most expected…
The vast majority of other prediction sites saw this film winning the weekend. Sensei warned though that the film was falling behind a Smurfs and Tangled-like box office pace. Sensei’s warnings held true as Twilight easily passed it.
3. Hugo
Prediction: 9 million. Actual: 7.5 million. Another solid call…
Sensei predicted the film would finish higher and it didn’t disappoint. Could Oscar buzz be around the corner?

4. Arthur Christmas
Prediction: 6.9 million. Actual: 7.4 million. Ho Ho Hum indeed.
Muppets and the rising Hugo did pull away family audiences, this one did end up settling for this sub-par number in its second weekend.

5. Immortals
Prediction: 5.8 million. Actual: #8 with 4.4 million. Did fight on…
Ended up falling to The Descendants (4.7 million) but did make things interesting. Film posts another solid weekend and again faces little competition for action audiences next week. … Serious money maker.
